Illegal behaviour on Internet needs regulating in Azerbaijan, minister says

The frequent cases relating to insult of honour and dignity on the Internet require legal regulation in Azerbaijan, Communication and IT minister Ali Abbasov told journalists on Monday.

According to the minister, at present the issue of legal regulation is acute in many countries with a developed Internet network.

"Today the virtual area is a kind of platform where financial and commercial organisations are operating," he said. "The Internet is widely used in education and other sectors of the Azerbaijani economy."

"However the majority of negative facts are based on social networks where people insult each other. If we consider global statistics, today five to10 per cent of divorces are caused by the negative impact of the Internet," Abbasov added.
