Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received credentials from three newly-appointed ambassadors on Friday.
In a meeting with the head of state, Czech Ambassador Radek Matula said he witnessed tremendous development in the country. He cited good prospects for expanding relations between the two countries, assuring the president that he would strive toward that goal during his tenure.
President Aliyev said the relations between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic were on a high level, voicing confidence that the new envoy would make a contribution to further boosting them in the course of his diplomatic mission.
The Czech ambassador will be based in Prague for the time being. He will work in Baku since mid-2009, when his country`s chairmanship in the European Union expires.
On the same day, the president received the newly-appointed French ambassador Gabriel Keller. He stressed that the relations between Azerbaijan and France were rapidly developing and there were vast opportunities to further broaden them.
Keller agreed with the president, noting that he would do his utmost to further expand Azerbaijan`s relations with the EU during France`s newly-started chairmanship in the 27-member bloc.
Receiving credentials from Pakistan`s new ambassador, Abdul Hamid, Aliyev said Azerbaijan and Pakistan were allies, emphasizing that his country has always sensed the latter`s support since the early days of its independence.
Referring to the sincere and friendly bonds between the two countries and nations, the president expressed hope that the newly-appointed envoy would work to take them to the next level.
Hamid said the positions of Azerbaijan and Pakistan coincided on both regional and international issues. The two countries are closely cooperating within international organizations as well.
