Azerbaijan, Serbia sign three papers

Azerbaijan signed three documents with Serbia on Friday as part of Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic's visit to the country.

The bilateral documents were signed following an extended meeting of Serbian and Azerbaijani delegations led by the Serbian leader, who started his first official visit to Azerbaijan on Thursday, and President Ilham Aliyev.

The two presidents signed a declaration on friendly relations and strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Serbia.

An agreement on cooperation in the field of veterinary medicine between the Azerbaijani and Serbian governments was signed by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and his Serbian counterpart Ivan Mrkic.

Ministers Mammadyarov and Mrkic also signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of information and communication technologies between the two countries' governments.

President Aliyev held a one-on-one meeting with the Serbian president on Friday.

The two presidents praised Azerbaijan-Serbia relations, saying they were developing in various fields.

The importance of the Serbian leader's visit for expanding the two countries' relations was stressed. The heads of state expressed confidence in further development of bilateral relations.

The presidents exchanged views on a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including bilateral, regional and international ones.

Azerbaijani Prime Minister Artur Rasizade has had a working lunch with the Serbian president, during which views on prospects for developing economic cooperation between the two countries were expressed.

President Nikolic also discussed prospects for developing bilateral relations with Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Ogtay Asadov.

Nikolic paid tribute to Azerbaijani late national leader Heydar Aliyev at the Alley of Honor, a cemetery and memorial in the capital Baku, and laid a wreath at his grave. He then laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame monument.

Azerbaijani First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and Serbia's First Lady Dragica Nikolic held a meeting in Baku on Friday.
