Baku to host first meeting of Turkic states' diaspora organisations

The agenda of the first meeting of the heads of state agencies responsible for the diaspora affairs of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking countries' member states has been announced, the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with Diaspora said on Monday, Trend news agency reported.

The meeting will be held in Baku on January 24-25. The issue of strengthening cooperation between the Diasporas of the council's member states spreading the ideas of the Turkic World Union and uniting efforts for their implementation, defining a strategy for further activity and creating an advisory council of state agencies responsible for diaspora affairs of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking countries' member states will be in focus of the meeting.

Preparation of a joint action strategy of heads of diaspora organisations of Turkic-speaking people and the issues relating to the establishment of a coordination council will be discussed.

Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora Nazim Ibrahimov, TurkPA Secretary General Ramil Hasanov, Secretary General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking countries Halil Akinci, deputy chairman of the World Association of Kazakhs Talgat Mamashev, head of the Department for the Affairs of Turks Abroad under the Turkish Cabinet of Ministers Kemal Yurtnac, Director of the Department of Employment and Migration under the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry Keshtakbek Aytymatov, Turkish Foreign Ministry officials and other authorised representatives are expected to attend the event.

The decision was made to hold the event during a meeting in New York on September 26, 2012, with the participation of Foreign Ministers of the General Secretariat of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking countries' member states.
