By Seymur Aliyev
An information center of the state body in charge of the Azerbaijani community abroad has begun operating. The center will monitor media outlets operating under diaspora organizations and make suggestions on ways to improve their activity, the State Committee for Work with Diaspora told Trend news agency.
Moreover, the center will create Web pages of the State Committee in social networks, as well as organize discussions about the diaspora. It will also work on the committee's website and provide electronic services of the committee.
The committee, headed by Nazim Ibrahimov, was established in November 2002 to handle communication with the diaspora and to facilitate establishment of new organizations to popularize Azerbaijani history, literature, traditions and other aspects of life.
Nearly 50 million Azerbaijanis live in about 70 countries of the world, including the Azerbaijan Republic.
Azerbaijan has managed to create strong diaspora comprising representatives of the communities around the world, including strategically important countries. It has communities in Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, USA, Germany, UK, Belarus, Moldova, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Denmark, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Belgium, Finland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
