Armenian govt rejects bill on recognizing Nagorno-Karabakh

The Armenian government on Thursday rejected a bill on the recognition of the so-called Nagorno-Karabakh Republic -- a self-proclaimed entity run by ethnic Armenians in occupied Azerbaijani territories, PanARMENIAN.Net website reported.

Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Shavarsh Kocharyan said such a bill is inappropriate and should not be discussed now.

Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding Azerbaijani regions have been occupied by Armenian armed forces since a 1990s war that ended with the signing of a precarious cease-fire in 1994. OSCE-brokered peace talks have been largely fruitless so far.

Armenia has not yet implemented the U.N. Security Council's four resolutions on a pullout from the neighboring country's occupied territories.
