Drivers to be notified of violations via text messages
The traffic police of Baku plans to promptly inform drivers of traffic violations using text messages and has launched talks with local cellular operators to use the SMS service for the purpose, an official of the Main State Traffic Police Department told Trend news agency.
Vagif Asadov said the measure is being taken due to problems that emerge with timely mailing of notifications to traffic violators.
``For instance, in a number of cases, after notifications about traffic violations were sent to the drivers` home addresses, it turned out that the buildings indicated in the addresses had been either demolished or the drivers, themselves, had moved, therefore, it was impossible to notify them in due time. All this has been causing some discontent on the part of the drivers,`` Asadov said.
The traffic police decided to use text messages to solve the problem. After the new service begins to be used, drivers whose violations were tracked down by radars and traffic cameras will promptly receive notifications on their cell phones.
