Azerbaijan to attend Eastern Partnership ministerial
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov will attend a meeting of the "Eastern Partnership" countries' foreign ministers in the Czech Republic on March 5, a diplomatic source told Trend news agency.
Foreign ministers of the Eastern Partnership countries (Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Belarus), Visegrad Group countries (Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary), the Baltic countries (Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia) and Denmark, which now presides over the EU Council, will hold a meeting in the Czech Republic.
"The Eastern Partnership deserves more attention (from the EU.)," earlier Czech media outlets quoted First Deputy Foreign Minister Jiri Schneider as saying.
It is noted that High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton and EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, Stefan Fule will also attend the meeting.
The Eastern Partnership project was launched in the first half of 2009 during the Czech Republic's EU presidency. The last summits of the Partnership were held in September 2011 in Warsaw during the Polish presidency.
