Azerbaijan’s foreign minister on Sunday attended an informal meeting of the foreign ministers of G20 countries in Mexico.

Elmar Mammadyarov met with senior Italian, Spanish and US officials on the sidelines of the meeting, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry told AssA-Irada.

During his talks with Italy's deputy foreign minister Martha Dassu, Mammadyarov discussed prospects for expanding relations between the two countries. The Italian side said it was particularly interested in boosting bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, stressing the importance of mutual visits by officials.

In Mammadyarov’s meeting with his Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo, the parties emphasized the importance of collaboration in the fields of energy, tourism and trade. The two ministers agreed to arrange mutual visits and business forums and to promote the participation of relevant bodies in regular tourism exhibitions held in both countries.

At his meeting with US Special Envoy for Eurasian Energy Richard Morningstar, the agenda included prospects of political, economic and energy cooperation.
