Top Azeri official: Most of int’l groups’ rankings biased
Most of rankings of international organizations are not compiled on unbiased criteria and analysis, Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Social and Political Department Chief Ali Hasanov told journalists on Wednesday. He was commenting on declaring Azerbaijan as an authoritarian country by some human rights organizations.
"There is a purpose to all of this," Hasanov said. "At a time when the world experiences globalization and the nations explore ways and methods of getting involved in these processes, policy of a particular country seems to dissatisfy someone. Projects implemented by that country in economic, political and social spheres may not meet someone's interests."
In this regard, Azerbaijan considers most of these ratings as subjective and does not pay them much importance, he added.
"The reason is that Azerbaijan's policy relies on the people's will, and the major criteria are peaceful and prosperous life of the Azerbaijani people, and ensuring national interests and security worldwide," Hasanov said.
