Aliyev: Armenian occupation of Azeri lands must end
Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev always "keeps an eye" on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict, and raises this issue at meetings with world leaders, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in Almaty after a meeting with the Kazakh president on Thursday.
President Aliyev said Azerbaijan is grateful to Kazakhstan for its stance in the Karabakh conflict, Kazinform reports.
Aliyev said it is necessary to end the conflict and the occupation of the country’s territories. He said resolutions of the UN Security Council, the highest international instance, should be implemented.
"The UN Security Council adopted four resolutions on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict demanding immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Armenian occupying forces from Azerbaijani territories," President Aliyev stressed. "Unfortunately, they are not fulfilled. Our territorial integrity has been violated."
"Azerbaijan could achieve even greater successes during the years of independence if there was no such a difficult problem. We are committed to addressing this issue within international law and Helsinki Final Act, which clearly defines the principles and priorities of countries' territorial integrity," he said.
