Top US official to visit Azerbaijan
US Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control, Verification and Compliance Rose Gottemoeller will travel to Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia on October 14-19 for talks with senior officials, the US Department of State reported.
Prior to arriving in the South Caucasus region, Gottemoeller will attend the International Forum for a Nuclear Weapons-Free World, to be held in Astana, Kazakhstan, on October 12-14.
The Astana forum will mark the historic 20th anniversary of the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site's closure. The forum mainly aims at mustering international support for the UN resolution on proclaiming August 29 as the International Day against Nuclear Tests.
