BAKU – The Azerbaijani government plans to open branches of the country’s senior clerical body in a number of countries, head of the state committee on religious organizations has said.

Hidayat Orujov said in a meeting with the heads of diaspora organizations that the measure is envisioned in the amended Law on Freedom of Religious Faith.

He said the government will assume the expenses on opening the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO) branches abroad.

"This indicates that the Azerbaijani government is taking care of the Azerbaijanis living in other countries," he added.
