Azerbaijan issues protest to Switzerland
BAKU – Azerbaijan has issued a protest to Switzerland after print materials distorting the country’s territorial integrity were displayed on Armenia’s stands at an international book and media fair in Geneva, Azerbaijan’s foreign ministry told AssA-Irada.
In its protest note to Switzerland’s foreign ministry, the Azerbaijani embassy requested taking action to address the issue.
Ambassador Murad Najafbayli expressed Baku’s concern in his meeting with the executives of the body in charge of organizing the exhibition, and called for the removal of false print materials from display.
Armenia is participating as an honorary visitor at the five-day exhibition, which ends Tuesday. President Serzh Sargsyan was due to attend the event on Monday.
Azerbaijan and Armenia have been locked in conflict for two decades. Armenian armed forces have occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory since a war in the early 1990s.
