Azeri opposition fails to agree on next protest
BAKU – An Azerbaijani umbrella opposition group meeting on Friday failed to pass a decision on holding its next antigovernment rally over differences.
Some participants offered to hold a protest on May 15, but no agreement was reached.
The Public Chamber, which was established following the November 2010 parliamentary elections, has lately held several unsanctioned protests. Following the April 2 protest, a criminal case was started, and 14 people were ordered held in detention for two months pending trial.
