Two Azeri soldiers wounded in ceasefire breach

BAKU – Two Azerbaijani soldiers were wounded after Armenian armed forces violated the ceasefire near a village of the Khojavand region on Tuesday, Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry told AssA-Irada.

Fazil Abdullayev, 20, is in severe condition, while Elshan Nazarov, 21, received light injuries. Both servicemen were hospitalized.

The two South Caucasus republics waged a war in the early 1990s, which claimed some 30,000 lives and displaced about a million Azerbaijanis. Armenia has been occupying over 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory since then. A ceasefire accord was signed in 1994, but OSCE-brokered peace talks have been largely fruitless so far.
