US-Azeri military exercises postponed
BAKU – US-Azerbaijani military exercises scheduled for May have been postponed, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry has said.
The ministry spokesman, Eldar Sabiroghlu, said the "Regional response-2011" exercises, initially set for May 15-25, have been put off "indefinitely". He did not give further comment, saying reasons for the postponement were not known at this point.
Asked about a potential impact of the postponement on US-Azerbaijani military cooperation, Sabiroghlu said: "I don’t think so. US-Azerbaijani military cooperation will be continued."
