BAKU – Azerbaijan’s opposition has asked the authorities of Baku to sanction its rally planned outside the Narimanov cinema on Sunday.

The appeal sent to the mayor’s office was co-signed by representatives of the parties included in the Public Chamber umbrella opposition group. The group comprises Musavat, Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, Azerbaijan National Independence Party and Classical Azerbaijan Popular Front Party, as well as a number of NGOs.

The Public Chamber organized an unauthorized rally in downtown Baku on April 2 that was dispersed by the police.
