Aliyev to visit Kazakhstan this year - ambassador
BAKU – Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is due to pay an official visit to Kazakhstan this year, Kazakh Ambassador in Baku Serik Primbetov said Wednesday.
He told a news conference that the date of the visit is being determined by diplomats.
"The two countries have tremendous potential and a broad basis for mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas. Holding such meetings at a high level is crucial and pivotal for an exchange of views and a successful implementation of the agreements reached."
The ambassador said work was underway on over ten documents to be signed by Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. He said some of them will be inked during President Aliyev’s visit. The agreements cover the oil and gas sector, maritime trade, agriculture, as well as culture and humanitarian aid.
Primbetov said that despite the world economic crisis, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan managed to increase bilateral trade turnover in 2010 to over $444.6 million.
