Hungary, Italy and Spain warn against visits to Karabakh
BAKU – Hungary has advised its citizens to avoid traveling to Nagorno-Karabakh and other Azerbaijani regions under Armenian occupation.
The Hungarian foreign ministry’s warning was posted on its website, according to the Azerbaijani embassy in Hungary.
The ministry also warned its citizens against visiting the territories close to the contact line of Azerbaijani and Armenian troops.
Hungary has repeatedly stated -- on different levels -- that it considers the Nagorno Karabakh region an inseparable part of Azerbaijan and supports a settlement of the Karabakh conflict within Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.
The Italian and Spanish foreign ministries have issued similar warnings.
Such warnings were issued earlier by Poland, France, Germany and Britain.
Nagorno Karabakh has been occupied by Armenia since a 1994 cease-fire ended a war that killed an estimated 30,000 people and ousted about one million Azerbaijanis from their homes. Years of OSCE-brokered peace talks have brought few tangible results.
