Azercell announces roaming benefits

BAKU – Azerbaijan’s leading cellular operator Azercell has announced a new campaign on its roaming fees that will provide special benefits to the customers using the company’s services abroad.

According to Azercell Telecom, pre-paid subscribers will pay a flat rate both for local calls and those made to their home country as well as SMS and GPRS messages for their connection to some cellular operators’ networks from a number of other countries. A minute of call time will cost them 24 Gapiks (30 cents) for local calls, 70 Gapiks (87 cents) for calls made to Azerbaijan, while a text message will cost 9 Gapiks (11 cents) and 1 MGB of GPRS traffic 2 manats ($2.6).

The three-month campaign, which began on January 29, covers 12 cellular operators included in the TeliaSonera group of companies. These are Estonian EMT, Latvia’s LMT, Moldova’s Moldcell, Lithuania’s Omnitel, Spanish Yoigo, Sonera Corporation Finland, Norway’s NetCom, AB Sweden, Telia Denmark, Kazakhstan’s Kcell, Tajikistan’s Tcell and Uzbekistan’s UCell.

The fees are even lower for calls made to Azerbaijan from Georgia. Customers visiting the neighboring South Caucasus republic currently pay 47 Gapiks (58 cents) per minute of call time, 8 Gapiks (10 cents) per SMS and 1.9 manats ($2.3) per 1 MGB of GPRS traffic for the services provided by Georgia’s Geocell operator.
