Greek leader to visit Azerbaijan in early April
BAKU – Greek President Karolos Papoulias will visit Azerbaijan on April 4-6. The two countries are expected to discuss cooperation prospects and sign a number of documents, the Greek embassy in Baku said.
An Azerbaijani-Greek business forum is to be held during Papoulias’ visit as well.
Papoulias is also due to visit the Baku Slavic University and familiarize himself with its center of Greek language and culture.
Papoulias will be on a reciprocal official visit to Baku following the one paid to his country by President Ilham Aliyev in February 2009.
Prior to the Greek leader’s visit, on February 2-3, Baku will host a meeting of the inter-governmental commission. A Greek delegation led by its co-chair, Deputy Foreign Minister Spyros Kouvelis will arrive in the Azerbaijani capital to attend the meeting.
The inter-governmental body was initially expected to meet in late November 2010, but the meeting was postponed for technical reasons.
The Azerbaijani-Greek trade turnover made up $15.9 million in January-October 2010, according to Azerbaijan’s State Statistics Committee.
