BAKU – Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze will pay his first official visit this year to Azerbaijan on January 17, his deputy Nino Kalandadze told a news briefing on Monday.

Vashadze is expected to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov during the two-day visit. The talks will center on bilateral relations and economic issues.

"Georgia has a firm relationship with Azerbaijan. We are now expecting our relations to shift to a deeper phase," Kalandadze said.
