BAKU – Turkmenistan's newly appointed ambassador to Azerbaijan, Toyli Komekov, arrived in Baku on Wednesday. Komekov will formally embark on his duties after submitting his credentials to President Ilham Aliyev.

Komekov was appointed to the post according to a decree enacted by President Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov on December 23. Prior to his new appointment he chaired the state body on Caspian issues under the Turkmen president and represented his country in talks on the legal status of the basin. Komekov has paid numerous visits to Baku.

Komekov’s predecessor Annamamed Mamedov died of a kidney failure in November at the age of 40.
