Azerbaijan denies reports on killing of its citizen in Russia

BAKU – The media reports on the killing of an Azerbaijani citizen over an ethnic rift in Moscow have no merit, representative of Azerbaijan’s Interior Ministry in Russia Eldar Samadov said.

According to him, this information was verified through the district police station of Moscow but was not confirmed.

"We keep in touch with the Interior Ministry of Russia and closely monitor the situation. Law-enforcement bodies of Moscow take all measures to control the situation in the capital," he said.

Unsanctioned demonstration at the Manege Square in Moscow escalated into clashes of protesters with the police. The reason for the rally was the death of one of the Spartak football club fans in a scuffle with the natives of Northern Caucasus. Football fans and activists of the nationalist groups took part in the riots. They have beaten several persons of non-Slavic appearance.
