Armenian violation reported during OSCE monitoring
BAKU – Armenian troops committed a violation during an OSCE monitoring conducted on the contact line between the Armenian and Azerbaijani armed forces on Tuesday, Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry said.
The monitoring, held outside the Kemerli village in the Gazakh region of Azerbaijan, was regarded as complete, but the Armenian side was about 1-1.5 kilometers away from the previously agreed location, which may be regarded as a violation, the ministry said.
Armenia and Azerbaijan waged a war in the early 1990s. Armenia has been occupying over 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory since then. OSCE-brokered peace talks have been largely fruitless so far and sporadic clashes on the frontline continue.
