Azeri, Armenian foreign ministers meet in Lisbon
LISBON – The foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia have held a meeting in Lisbon on the sidelines of a NATO summit, Armenian media quoted the country’s foreign ministry as saying.
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Elkhan Polukhov said the meeting was informal and short. The gist of discussions is not reported.
Azerbaijan and Armenia have been locked in conflict for two decades. 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s territory has been under Armenian occupation since the two countries signed a cease-fire in 1994 following a lengthy war. OSCE-brokered peace talks have been largely fruitless so far.
