OSCE report on Karabakh ready – reports
YEREVAN – A report of the OSCE mediators brokering settlement to the Nagorno (Upper) Karabakh conflict assessing their recent visit to the Armenia-occupied Azerbaijani territories has been submitted to the parties, Armenian media reported. The text of the report was not disclosed.
But Elkhan Polukhov, the spokesman for the Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry, said Baku has not yet been informed to that end.
The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group visited the occupied territories surrounding Azerbaijan’s Nagorno Karabakh region October 7-13. Three technical experts, including two from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), assisted them in their tasks. The co-chairs familiarized themselves with the current situation in the territories, in all aspects, including humanitarian needs.
Azerbaijan and Armenia have been locked in conflict for two decades. Peace talks kicked off after a lengthy war that ended with the signing of a shaky cease-fire in 1994. Armenian armed forces continue to occupy over 20 percent of Azerbaijan’s internationally recognized territory. Peace talks have been largely fruitless so far.
