Catholic church opens
The Virgin Mary Catholic Church was opened in Baku on Friday.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva
attended the ceremony.
The Vatican's Secretary of State, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone who visited Azerbaijan last week participated as well.
President Aliyev said that the opening of the Catholic Church was an important and unforgettable development. He said inter-religious relations in Azerbaijan were on a high level and that there had been no religious conflicts in the country to date.
Head of the church Jan Capla extended gratitude to the leadership of Azerbaijan for religious tolerance in the country.
