Swedish group keen on women’s role in Karabakh settlement

BERN – Diplomats represented in the OSCE Minsk Group should avail of the efforts of Azerbaijani and Armenian women’s organizations to facilitate a settlement to the Upper (Nagorno) Karabakh conflict, the head of a Swedish group said Friday.

"The conflicts flaring in the country and the region affect not only men but also women. Therefore, women should have a say in decision-making," Lena Ag, Secretary General of the Kvinna Till Kvinna (Woman to Woman) Foundation, told reporters in Baku.

Ag said that in fact, women often do the job of political leaders, therefore, their voices should be heard and opinions taken into consideration.

Kvinna Till Kvinna was founded in 1993 as a result of the Balkan war. It supports women in war and conflict zones with a strong concentration on the Balkans, but is also active in the Middle East and the Caucasus. Kvinna Till Kvinna cooperates closely with local residents.
