Murder rate down in Azerbaijan, official says
BAKU – The number of murders has decreased in Azerbaijan in recent years, First Deputy Prosecutor-General Rustam Usubov has said.
Usubov told reporters that 500 to 600 such crimes were committed per year in the 1990s and many of the offenses were not being disclosed, which is currently not the case.
"The number of such crimes now is 160-170. Only a few of them remain unravelled, as 90 percent are disclosed. During the year 12 to 13 cases of this type remain undisclosed, and these are offenses related to domestic disputes."
