Russian official sees ‘great’ prospects for co-op
The visiting Russian presidential administration chief, Sergei Narishkin, said in Baku Monday that there were great prospects for bilateral cooperation with Azerbaijan.
The Russian official made this statement after meeting with the chief of the Azeri Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev.
Narishkin pointed out that power engineering is a key field for economic cooperation between the two countries. He said new contracts in gas and power engineering have been signed.
Narishkin told journalists that issues concerning political, economic and social cooperation were on the agenda during his meeting with the Azeri presidential administration chief.
"Our countries’ positions coincide on most international issues. We are happy with the bilateral economic cooperation. In spite of the global economic crisis, only a minor decline in bilateral trade turnover was seen last year. We will surely soon restore the level of trade turnover that existed in 2008," he was quoted as saying.
