Azercell, USAID and Cisco clinch deal for ICT project
Azerbaijan’s cellular operator Azercell, US Agency for
International Development (USAID) and the Cisco company have signed
an agreement on cooperation in implementing the Barama project that
will boost the development of information and communication
technologies in Azerbaijan.
The agreement was signed by the head of Azercell Communications and IT Department Director Orhan Buday, USAID Caucasus Mission Director Jonathan Conly and Cisco General Manager Mucit Emel.
The main objective of Azercell’s Barama project is to provide support aimed at exploring new ideas in the ICT field, evolving them to maturity and eventually materializing them. The ideas’ value is defined by the extent of innovation, creativity and social-economic benefits.
"We are proud to cooperate with Azercell and Cisco to develop an IT sector in Azerbaijan," USAID’s Jonathan Conly said.*
