Azeri deputy FM to visit Israel Tuesday
Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov is scheduled to leave for Israel on Tuesday. During the visit, Azimov is due to meet with his Israeli counterpart Danny Ayalon, the IzRus news portal reported. Also, the Azerbaijani deputy minister will hold meetings with Pinchas Avivi, Deputy Director General for the Israeli Foreign Ministry’s Division for Central Europe and Eurasia, as well as with other Israeli dignitaries.
Yuval Fux, the Israeli Foreign Ministry’s department head, told IzRus that Azimov’s visit had been planned beforehand and aims to develop political and economic relations between Israel and Azerbaijan.
"It is very important for us to enquire how Baku assesses its relations with Israel, neighboring states and the world’s leading powers. Also, we want to discuss issues pertaining to the regional policies being pursued in the Middle East and South Caucasus. I am talking about the Israeli government’s pivotal ally in terms of economics and politics."*
