Ukrainian presidential hopeful plays down GUAM’s importance
Ukrainian presidential hopeful, former Prime Minister Viktor
Yanukovich has claimed that GUAM, a group of Georgia, Ukraine,
Azerbaijan and Moldova, has lost its importance.
Yanukovich told reporters during a visit to the Lugansk region Wednesday that he had heard "only declarative words" about GUAM in the past five years, without witnessing any specific actions.
The former prime minister pledged, however, that, if elected president, he will be ready to discuss GUAM and other issues with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.*
