Parliament passes bill on Azeri peacekeeping ops
The Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani parliament) has adopted a bill on Azerbaijan’s participation in peacekeeping operations.
"This law defines the basis, forms and rules of Azerbaijan’s participation in peacekeeping operations conducted in connection with the prevention, settlement and resolution of local and regional conflicts," member of the Committee on Security and Defense of the Milli Majlis Siyavush Novruzov said Friday.
He said social protection of peacekeepers and their families will be ensured.
Azerbaijan has been involved in peacekeeping operations since 1999. 90 Azerbaijani peacemakers are currently serving in Afghanistan as part of the coalition forces.*
