Azerbaijan, Iran oppose ‘outside interference’ with regional security
Azerbaijan and Iran concurrently opposed interference of outside
forces with ensuring security in the volatile region during talks
held by Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov in Tehran on
Monday.
"Security issues in the Caucasus and Caspian regions are an affair of the regional states alone. Iran-Azerbaijan bilateral security ties are of great importance from this viewpoint," Saeed Jalili, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, said in a meeting with Mammadyarov.
Jalili added that the two countries are consistently cooperating in the area of security.
Mammadyarov concurred that such interference is inadmissible. Further, speaking of bilateral relations, the minister said they were based on fraternity and good neighborliness, adding that Baku was exploring ways of developing its cooperation with Tehran.*
