Pro-Armenian congressman to chair House subcommittee
Robert Wexler, chairman of the House of Representatives
subcommittee for Europe and the Turkey friendship group, and a
member of the congressional taskforce on Azerbaijan, will be
succeeded in his capacity by a pro-Armenian congressman.
According to Wexler’s office, his successor is Bill Delahunt, who is known for maintaining friendly ties with the Armenian diaspora.
The outgoing lawmaker is stepping down as congressman to head the Center for Middle East Peace.
Delahunt is known as a supporter of Armenian initiatives and is one of the backers of the congressional bill supporting claims on the alleged World War I-era genocide of Armenians in Ottoman Turkey.*
