Azerbaijani delegation has met with members of the national team competing at Minsk 2019 2nd European Games in Belarus.
The delegation included Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov, First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, Minister of Youth and Sports Azad Rahimov, Vice-President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Chingiz Huseynzade, Deputy Secretary General of NOC Azer Aliyev and others.
The delegation members talked to the Azerbaijani athletes and viewed conditions created in the Athletes’ Village.
Mayor of the Athletes’ Village, Deputy Education Minister of Belarus Sergey Rudy informed the delegation of the accommodation and the conditions created there for the athletes.
He emphasized the Azerbaijani specialists’ contribution to the organization of the 2nd European Games.
In her interview with Azerbaijani reporters, Leyla Aliyeva expressed her hope that Azerbaijani athletes will make achievements at Minsk 2019.
Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation shared her thoughts about the opening ceremony of Minsk 2019 European Games.
"The opening ceremony was magical. It lasted about three hours, but it seems like it passed in one breath. It was impossible to break away - they emphasized the whole history of Belarus with such great love and beauty. Of course, I think that after watching the ceremony, everyone even more fell in love with this country," she said.
The 2019 European Games are held in Minsk, Belarus, on June 21- 30, bringing together over 4,000 athletes from 50 countries. A total of 199 sets of medals in 15 different sports are up for grabs during the 2019 European Games.
Azerbaijan is represented at Minsk 2019 by 82 athletes.
The 1st European Games were held on June 12-28, 2015, in Baku. They were attended by 5,730 athletes from 50 countries.
