US deputy assistant secretary due on visit
US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European
and Eurasian Affairs, Tina Kaidanow, will pay her first visit to
Azerbaijan on October 22-24, according to the US embassy in
Baku.
Kaidanow will meet with government officials, civil society representatives and business leaders to discuss regional and bilateral issues.
Currently Kaidanow is on a visit in Yerevan where she has met with Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian and Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian.
During the meeting with Sarkisian, the two discussed progress in the settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Upper (Nagorno) Garabagh as well as the process of normalizing Turkish-Armenian relations.
The Armenian presidential administration has told Mediamax news agency that the parties had underscored the magnitude of advances in Ankara-Yerevan rapprochement.
They also said bilateral relations should be forged without pre-conditions.
Diplomat Tina Kaidanow replaced Matthew Bryza as US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in August.
