Turks see Azerbaijan as most friendly state: poll
Azerbaijan is Turkey`s closest friend, according to
a recent public opinion poll conducted by an international
strategic research group.
This opinion was expressed by 24 percent of respondents in the "Foreign policy comprehension questionnaire" poll, commissioned in the cities of Ankara, Istanbul, Bursa and Izmir by the Ankara-based USAK organization.
Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkmenistan were also among the countries considered as the friendliest to Turkey.
56 percent of respondents linked their country`s future with European Union membership.
Asked which country poses the greatest threat to world peace, 33 percent of those polled cited the United States, while 24 percent - Israel, and 12 percent Russia.
49 percent of the survey participants termed Ankara`s foreign political course as successful.
A quarter of the 1,110 respondents polled view the U.S. as a menace for Turkey.
