Cop killed in skirmish with drug traffickers

A police officer was killed in a shooting between the law enforcers
and a criminal group trying to smuggle a great deal of drugs to
Azerbaijan from neighboring Iran. During the skirmish in the
borderline Jalilabad district, the operations chief of the Interior
Ministry's Main Department on Fighting Organized Crime,
lieutenant-colonel Namig Musayev died after receiving a sub-machine
gun wound, local "V channel reported.
The ministry has stepped up effort to detain the gang, which includes an Iranian national suspected of committing the police officer's murder.
Six kilograms of heroin were impounded from the outlaws during the operation.
The Prosecutor General's Office has instituted criminal proceedings on the case.
