Minister: Youth sphere is one of the key priorities of Azerbaijan

The youth program, covering 2017-2020, played a crucial role in supporting young people at the international level and participating in international platforms, said the Minister of Youth and Sport of Azerbaijan Azad Rahimov at the opening of the fifth Azerbaijan-Russia Youth Forum under the name "The New Generation: Responsibility Without Borders".

Rahimov noted that one of the key priorities of Azerbaijan after the restoration of independence was the youth sphere.

"Currently, youth constitute 25 percent of Azerbaijan's population. This is a high indicator for Europe. One of the main fields of activities of the state over the past year was the adoption of a youth program covering 2017-2020,” the minister said. This program plays a crucial role in supporting young people at the international level and participating in international platforms. Azerbaijan has relations with 65 countries in the field of youth and sports. Azerbaijani youth organizations are members of more than 30 youth organizations.”

The charge d'affaires of the Russian Federation in Azerbaijan Oleg Murashov spoke about the friendly relations between Russia and Azerbaijan.

"We are the second largest trading partner of Azerbaijan. Working with young people both in Azerbaijan and in Russia is one of the key areas. I must note that about 15,000 Azerbaijani citizens study in Russia," Murashov said.

The event continued with the performance of officials.

The organizer of the forum, which will last until December 23, is the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, co-organizers are the Ministry of Science and Education of Russia, the Azerbaijan Youth Organization of Russia, the National Council of Youth Organizations of Azerbaijan and the National Council of Youth and Children's Associations of Russia.

The main purposes of the youth policy in Azerbaijan are to create suitable conditions for physical, mental and spiritual development of youth, to assist in the realization of their skills and abilities to resolve their social problems, and to guarantee the protection of their rights.

Today, Azerbaijan opens youth houses, new places for work, and possibilities for education in the country and abroad, engage in sports and many other activities.

Well-educated, creative and healthy young persons are viewed as valuable employees in Azerbaijan and they actively present the country in the world.
