The potential of the tourism industry of Azerbaijan was presented in Tashkent during the conference "Tourism Education: Problems and Prospects" held by Tashkent State Economic University.

The conference was attended by representatives of the State Committee of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development, the Azerbaijan Cultural Center and leading travel agencies of Uzbekistan.

Representative of the Azerbaijan Cultural Center named after Heydar Aliyev, Kifayat Pirmammadova made a presentation on the University of Tourism and Management. The report described tourism education in Azerbaijan organized in accordance with world standards, the process of education in higher education institutions and the progress achieved in this field.

Director of the Center Samir Abbasov stressed that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with Uzbekistan in the field of tourism development, as well as tourism education.

The diplomat noted that large infrastructure projects in the field of tourism are being implemented in Azerbaijan, the cities of the country have been transformed, and in recent years the flow of tourists to Azerbaijan has increased.

Abbasov recalled that a memorandum on cooperation between the Tashkent State Economic University and the University of Tourism and Management of Azerbaijan was signed within the framework of the tourism exhibition held in Tashkent in early April.

The participating universities plan to intensify bilateral relations, including organization of joint conferences and seminars on topical issues in the field of tourism education, the exchange of scientific publications, the organization of joint summer schools and in the future the implementation of activities on student exchange.

An exhibition "Museum under the open sky" organized within the framework of the conference presented mock-ups of the most famous architectural monuments of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

Tourist associations of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan signed a memorandum on the development of relations on April, 2017.

The document provides for the exchange of experience and information in the development of the tourism industry, organization of joint tours and activities related to the promotion of tourism, the organization of mutual trips, the promotion of health tourism between the two countries and the provision of mutual support in strengthening the flow of tourists.

So far, the two countries have signed over 100 bilateral documents to promote trade operations.

Uzbekistan exports vehicles, non-ferrous metals, pharmaceutical products, fertilizers, electrical and mechanical appliances, agricultural products to Azerbaijan, provides services in the transport, tourism and other spheres. Azerbaijan's export to Uzbekistan mainly consists of mechanical devices, confectionery products, various organic and chemical compounds, tannic and dye extracts.
