The Azerbaijani Army has successfully completed the large-scale military exercises that started on April 16.
The Board of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry held a meeting on April 21, devoted to combat and moral-psychological training of the soldiers and results of the large-scale exercises.
The leadership of the ministry, commanders of the formations, their deputies, heads of military institutes and other officers in charge participated in the meeting held in the frontline zone.
Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov, after hearing the reports by the military officers, emphasized that all the goals and tasks set in the exercises were successfully achieved and fulfilled.
The exercises were held to inspect combat readiness of troops in line with the plan approved by Azerbaijan’s President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev.
About 30,000 servicemen were participating in the drills that started on April 16. Also, more than 250 tanks and armored vehicles, up to 200 missiles and artillery systems, multiple launch rocket systems and mortars, and 25 combat aircraft were involved in the exercises.
Hasanov highly appreciated the combativeness and moral-psychological training of the military personnel, stressed the importance of the exercises and brought to the command personnel the relevant tasks assigned by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief.
Speaking about the current situation in the frontline zone, the minister gave specific instructions to the commanders of the formations, located on the foremost defense line.
The minister ordered to be constantly ready for repulsing the enemy attacks and most active battles, to keep under constant control the enemy's activities, as well as to preempt and decisively suppress any enemy actions.
The Azerbaijani Army, which today is considered the most modern army in the Caucasus, consists of Air Force and Air Defense Forces, the Navy, and the Land Forces.
The skills and combat readiness of the Azerbaijani army are growing year by year, as the country’s Armed Forces regularly conduct military exercises. The Azerbaijani army is supplied with modern weapons and technical equipment for maintaining a high level of combat capability.
The army building process is of particular importance for Azerbaijan, as twenty percent of the country's territory is under Armenian occupation and the country is in a state of war with Armenia.
