Czech Republic keen to expand cooperation with Azerbaijan

The Czech Republic is interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan, said Jan Mladek.
The Czech minister of industry and trade highlighted the
friendly relations between the two countries during his meeting
with Valeh Alasgarov, the head of the Azerbaijani-Czech working
group on interparliamentary relations in Baku.
He underlined that these relations are being developed day by day,
and noted the importance of meetings of the heads of states and the
Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership signed between
Azerbaijan and Czech Republic.
The Czech minister mentioned that today, Azerbaijan meets one third
of energy needs of the Czech Republic.
Mladek also praised the interparliamentary relations between the two countries.
He also expressed his readiness to support Azerbaijan`s strategic partnership talks with the European Union.
In turn, Alasgarov expressed his confidence that the meetings
held as part of the Baku visit of the Czech delegation will
contribute to further deepening of bilateral relations, as well as
further development of ties in political and economic fields.
Alasgarov hailed the Azerbaijan-Czech relations in all areas as
excellent, highlighting the energy projects implemented with the
participation of Azerbaijan.
On January 17, Azerbaijan-Czech Business Forum was held in Baku with participation of about 170 Czech businessmen, engaged in agriculture, food industry, finance, insurance, energy, logistics, construction, law, petrochemistry, mechanical engineering, glass production and other sectors of the economy.
The Czech Republic ranks the 12th in the list of main importers of Azerbaijani goods. The share of the Czech Republic in the total export from Azerbaijan totaled 2.58 percent in January-November 2016.
The trade turnover between Azerbaijan and the Czech Republic amounted to $316 million in January-November 2016, and $214.4 million of which accounted for the export of Azerbaijani goods to the Czech Republic, according to the Azerbaijani State Customs Committee.
