Youths hail Greek minister`s support for Azeri cause
Azerbaijani youths have launched a campaign to
support Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis, who chairs the
OSCE, a group mediating settlement to the Armenia-Azerbaijan Upper
(Nagorno) Garabagh conflict.
The youngsters indicated that a while ago, Bakoyannis said progress was expected in the resolution of the long-standing dispute in 2009 and that the European security body firmly backed the territorial integrity of all countries, the Ireli (Forward) public union told AssA-Irada. The statement prompted discontent of Armenian youths, who called on the Greek minister to make another statement in this regard and forwarded a letter urging her to alter this stance.
In response, the Azerbaijani youths emailed the Greek Foreign Ministry expressing their support and appreciation for Bakoyannis`s backing of Azerbaijan`s fair cause. The campaigners also set up a club of support for the Greek minister. Moreover, the youngsters adopted a statement thanking Bakoyannis for adhering to a fair position and taking Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity as a basis, and forwarded it to the Greek embassy in Baku.
