Religious group suspected of terror nabbed
A radical religious group of Azerbaijani citizens
has been seized by security officers as part of
counter-intelligence measures aimed at fighting international
terror. According to the Azerbaijan National Security Ministry, the
group was planning to disrupt the country on the eve of the
presidential elections and stage a number of terror acts to
intimidate the public, including blowing up the Baku-Novorossiysk
northern oil pipeline. The leader of the terrorists, Azer
Misirkhanov, known under the nickname Abdullah, was previously
involved in special training and combat operations in various war
zones as a member of illegal armed bands.
