ANAMA detects 13 UXOs in Shirvan national park

Azerbaijan’s National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) continues to explore the country’s territory to reveal the unexploded ordnance (UXOs).
As a result of the last inspection, ANAMA found 13 UXOs in the territory of the Shirvan National Park in Salyan region of Azerbaijan.
The Agency’s report states that unexploded artillery shells, namely, BR-412 of 100-mm caliber, PBR-412 (100 mm), O-271 (57 mm), O-365 (85 mm), BR-243 (45 mm), two OF-412 (100 mm), five OR-167 (37 mm) and the engine part of PG rocket, were discovered and removed from the territory of Shirvan national park.
As a total, area of 5,000 square meters was inspected by ANAMA .
Additionally, ANAMA examined a dangerous area in Ahmadagali village of Agdam region; as a result, unexploded grenade F-1was discovered and defused.
Moreover, an unexploded artillery shell OF-530 of 152-mm caliber was detected in the cultivation area in Khojavand region.
From April 7 to October 4, the ANAMA experts viewed 646 houses and infields, three military units, five rural schools, two cemeteries, 30 farms, a medical center, a warehouse of scrap metal, a gravel pit, a reserve, territory of a winery, and acreages in Zardab, Tartar, Agjabadi, Agdam, Barda, Fizuli, Goranboy, Tovuz, Gazakh, Agstafa, Samukh, Goygol, Shamkir, Jalilabad, Ujar, Astara, Salyan regions, and in cities of Mingachevir, Sumgayit, Lankaran, Shirvan, Ganja and Baku.
As a result, ANAMA discovered and defused 3,528 UXOs, 19 anti-personnel and 42 anti-tank mines.
