“We look forward to President Nazarbayev’s visit to Azerbaijan,” the minister said at the 13th meeting of the Kazakh-Azerbaijani intergovernmental economic cooperation commission. “We deeply respect the Kazakh president for his wisdom and attitude towards Azerbaijan.”
The minister said the fraternal relations between the presidents of Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are the two pillars on which all the political, economic and friendly relations between the two independent countries are based.
Earlier, Kazakh Foreign Minister Erlan Idrissov said that President Nazarbayev will visit Azerbaijan, Armenia, Serbia and some other countries in 2016
The 13th meeting of the Azerbaijani-Kazakh intergovernmental economic cooperation commission kicked off in Astana, Kazakhstan on September 22 under the chairmanship of Natig Aliyev, Azerbaijani energy minister, and Kanat Bozumbayev, Kazakh energy minister.
The sides are discussing such areas as economy, energy, transport, agriculture, environmental protection and culture, as well as the supply of Kazakh oil and oil products from Azerbaijan to world markets, and organizing exhibitions and business forums.
Kazakh expert Adil Kaukenov previously told Day.Az that the future perspectives of cooperation in the Caspian Sea region will be on the agenda of the Baku talks within the Kazakh leader’s upcoming visit.
Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are also expected to discuss prospects of different logistics and transportation projects, particularly, the Aktau port modernization and intensification of the route Aktau-Baku, which in turn promises significant mutual benefits.
Azerbaijanis and Kazakhs are both Turkic-speaking nations and share close historical, religious, and cultural ties. Both are the littoral states of the Caspian Sea and possess a common maritime border. Kazakhstan is home to more than 130,000 Azerbaijanis.
